Setup Life Hacks

Cita previa for NIE is the trickiest step. Slots open in the morning (8:00–9:00) — keep refreshing the page or use a booking bot.
Padrón can be done the same day, but it's better to book in advance through Valencia.es.
To open an account at BBVA or CaixaBank, a passport + NIE (or NIE application) is enough. N26/Wise can be opened online.
If you have a European driver's license, it's valid for 2 years. Non-European licenses must be exchanged within 6 months.
For electricity (luz): we recommend Iberdrola or Naturgy on the PVPC tariff (regulated, cheaper).
Apply for a digital certificate (certificado digital) — it's needed for ALL online procedures with government agencies.
Register with Agencia Tributaria (Modelo 030) as a tax resident if you plan to work or start a business.

Setup FAQ

The appointment itself takes 15 minutes. But booking a cita previa can take 1–3 weeks depending on demand. We help you book faster. After submission, the NIE is assigned immediately, but the certificate arrives in 1–5 working days.
Some banks (CaixaBank, BBVA) open accounts with a passport + proof of NIE application. Online banks (N26, Wise, Revolut) open accounts with an EU passport. For a full Spanish account, an NIE will be needed within 30 days.
It's an electronic signature linked to your NIE. It allows you to: file tax returns online, book cita previa, obtain certificates, and manage social security. Available free from FNMT after visiting Seguridad Social.
For public school: padrón + SIP (or private insurance) + birth certificate (apostille + translation). Enrollment period: March–April. Outside the period — based on availability (solicitud de plaza fuera de plazo). International schools accept year-round.
EU licenses are valid without exchange (until expiration). Licenses from countries with agreements (note: Russia has no agreement): valid for 6 months, then you must pass the theory exam in Spanish. We recommend starting the process right after obtaining residency.
